Itinerary: Bertigaro village (680 m)- Giacopiane Lake (1000 m) - Bertigaro village (680 m).

Il sentiero parte dal pase di Bertigaro (frazione di Borzonasca) in un tornante lungo la strada provinciale ex SS586. Il tornante, presso villa Jensy è facilmente identificabile dal momento che sul lato esterno (a destra salendo) si trovano tre grosse anfore. Se si arriva in auto, all'interno del tornante esiste spazio per parcheggiare.

ENGLISH
The path starts from Bertigaro a small village close to the municipality of Borzonasca. You can park the car along the road provinciale ex road statale SS586 on the inside of a bend. You can easily identify the starting point close to villa Jensy due to the precence of three amphora on the right side of the road going up.

Il sentiero, contrassegnato da un rombo rosso pieno, si inerpica con moderata pendenza costante, fino a sbucare in un'area prativa sulle pendici del monte Bregaceto (la sommità la vedrete sulla destra) dopo una prima area prativa ci si tuffa in una pineta per poi sbucare nuovamente in un'area prativa fino al lago di Giacopiane. Il sentiero sbuca proprio sotto la diga secondaria, quella verso Temossi, per intenderci.

ENGLISH
The path marked with a red diamond, climbs with moderate slope across a forest, it passes some meadows ad enters into a fir forest. After the fir forst you will reach a meadow area close to Giacopiane Lake secondary dam (the small one on the Temossi village side).

Raggiunto il lago, si procede verso sinistra fino ad incontrare, sempre sulla sinistra, il sentiero che coincide con il percorso dei tubi il segnavia è un pallino giallo e lo si percorre fino ad incrociare il sentiero contrassegnato con un pallino rosso che scende, sempre a sinistra, nuovamente a Bertigaro.

ENGLISH
When you reach the lake, head left and take always on the left the path that follows the water ducts; this path is marked with a jellow bullet. Follow this path until you cross a path marked with a red bullet. Take this red marked path on the left, and go down to Bertigaro again.

La parte di sentiero contrassegnata dal pallino giallo (tra il lago di Giacopiane ed il sentiero che scende a Bertigaro) è largamente in piano, ombroso ed attraversa impenetrabili boschi di abeti, pini e faggete. Il muschio rigoglioso di un verde brillante non manca. Si oltrepassano alcune dighe su altrettanti ruscelli.
Il sentiero che scende a Bartigaro, quello contrassegnato con il pallino rosso, incorocia il torrente Sturla non troppo lontano dalle sue sorgenti, attraversa i prati di Prefugaia per poi ricongiungersi al punto di partenza.

ENGLISH
The portion of the path marked with the jellow bullet (between Giacopiane Lake and the path marked with the red bullet) is mostly flat, shady and passes through thik fir and beeches forest. The lush moss will be almost everywhere.
The path heading to Bertigaro, the one marked with the red bullet, crosses the Sturla River not to far from its source, passes through Prefugaia Meadows and and reaches the points where you parked the car.

Curiosità:
Villa Jensy, fu costruita verso la fine del 1800 dal generale austricao Jensy come punto di appoggio per battute di caccia e, stando a quanto si tramanda oralmente in loco, fu visitata dalla Regina Margherita.

Villa Jensy was built in the late 1800s by the Austrian General Jensy as base for hunting. According to what has been handed down orally by villagers, the villa was also visited by Queen Margherita.

NOTE SUL PERCORSO
Il percorso non è mediamente ben segnato, e non presenta particolari difficoltà tecniche. Suggerisco di fare rifornimento d'acqua prima di partire sebbene si incontrino alcuni ruscelli.
Sono necessari dei buoni scarponi da montagna, non affrontate questo percorso con mere scarpe da ginnastica.


Ricordo come al solito, che i rifiuti non devono essere lasciati in giro, ma riportati a casa.
Ci sono già i fungaioli esseri mediamente incivili (non tutti per carità) interessati solo al raccolto...che abbandonano tonnellate di spazzatura nei boschi.

NOTES ABOUT THE AREA AND LOCATION
The Path is well marked, and does not present technical difficulties.
I suggest to wear hiking boots and to fill your bottle with water at home though you will meet some creeks.

As usual remember that rubbish must be deposited in special bins (the mushroom hunters leave (not all to be honest) tons of rubbish in the woods...) Avoid fires and / or leave cigarette ends.
